The 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace

by Gary Chapman & Dr. Paul White

Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to attend a conference called, "The Gathering."  The Gathering is a place where founders, CEOs and CMOs (and the occasional Head of School) come together to share and learn.  Groups such as Herschel Bags, Microsoft, TicTok and the NFL come to this conference - it is truly a space of inspiration!

Even though we were treated to presentations by some of the planet's best marketing minds, my favourite talk of the conference came from one of the Gathering's founders, Chris Kneeland.  Chris gave a speech about his leadership and it was truly one of the most vulnerable keynotes I have ever attended.  He keyed in on his own leadership successes, but mostly he spoke about his failures.

While reflecting on his transformative leadership journey, Chris mentioned this week's book, "The 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace."  Following his talk, I immediately got a copy and set to exploring it.

What I found was a book filled with deeply intuitive and insightful research and practices that can increase an organization's culture and improve our leadership.  Chapman & White's book is a must-read for anyone who is currently a leader or aspires to be one!
