Together: Cleaning the 'Shed'

Last week I had the pleasure of flying with WestJet to and from Victoria.  Upon arriving in Victoria, I was amazed to see the pilot and co-pilot leave the cockpit and start to clean the plane as soon as we landed.  I thought it was impressive to see their level of servant leadership.

This really reminded me of some of the ideas behind the R+ initiative.  As is often stated by Coach Long or Forman - at Rundle we 'leave the jersey in a better place' and 'we sweep our sheds.'

However, maybe even more impressively, we had the pleasure of having WestJet VP of People and Culture, Mark Porter on our flight back to Calgary.  It was one thing for him to first announce his presence on the flight, but he gave us his seat number and encouraged all passengers to stop by for a chat.  If that wasn't enough, when the drink cart came around - there he was serving our ginger ale and cookies.

I am inspired by his actions and look forward to continuing to find ways to serve the cookies while flying the plane.

Thanks Mark!
