Inquisitiveness
In my observations, when it comes to learning, the only thing more important than safety is curiosity or inquisitiveness. I can see this desire to ask good questions playing a critical role in our children's growth in the coming decade.
Here are a few places it'll have an impact:
1) Post-Truth Era - More often than not, today we are challenged to understand what is real, what is factual and what the intention of any information is. We need to encourage our kids to be mindful consumers of information so they can make good, informed decisions.
2) Knowledge Economy - If you ascribe to the writings of Yuval Noah Harari, Thomas Friedman or Klaus Schwab, you will know the power of the mind in the context of our economy and technological progress.
3) Happiness - Much of what we are coming to know about positive psychology leads us to believe that our ongoing pursuit of happiness needs to begin with a curiosity about ourselves and what allows us to be fulfilled. Inquisitiveness about our own motivations and drivers may well be part of our own personal wellness.
