Through Their Eyes: Motivation, Habits, Support

As we started this school year, I have give a variation of the same speech to all students. In short, here’s how it went:

  • Join me in an experiment of the mind, “For you, what does it mean to be successful?”
  • The one thing I am certain of is that there are as many unique answers as there are people in this room.
  • With that said, what do we do once we know our individual definitions of success?
  • (a) we must understand the ‘why’ and be sure it is intrinsically motivating to us
  • (b) we then need to develop incrementally sustainable habits to work towards our idea of success
  • (c) finally, we need to share our definition with our support group - those who can encourage you when you need it most
I hope our entire community takes this experiment of the mind to heart and we continue to understand each other and what’s really important.
