In an ongoing effort to inform our community about some of the programs that are offered at our Rundle schools, this week we are taking a look at the 'Peer Support' groups at the Academy and College Junior/Senior High programs.
At the College, the Peer Support Mission Statement is:
"Peer support is a group of students committed to enriching the lives of other students in order to create a just and caring school culture. Our leaders focus on emotional growth and wellbeing of students in our community."
Students apply to become members of this important group. Once they are members of Peer Support, they receive 'Community Helpers' training through Alberta Health Services.
The areas of focus are:
- Positive School Environment
- Acceptance and Diversity
- Healthy Relationships
- Mental Health and Wellness
- Academic Support
With each of these focus areas, the group coordinates impactful activities and learnings for the student body.
For more information on the Peer Support initiative, please feel free to reach out to Ms. Sarah Dunsford (dunsford@rundle.ab.ca) or Mrs. Amie Staniloff (staniloff@rundle.ab.ca).
