Week 10 | Book 10 - Will by Will Smith

Week 10 | Book 10

Will

By: Will Smith

In the genre of memoir, this is among the very best I have ever had the pleasure of reading.  Will Smith lays his entire life experience bare for the reader.  Throughout his journey from childhood, to hip hop pioneer, to tv star and film's top lead man - Will Smith shares his professional and personal experience so the reader can learn from his life's lessons.

At the onset of the book, Will's story of 'filling a hole in a brick wall' sets the stage for his approach to life, as he says it, 'one brick at a time.'  He concludes the book on his 50th birthday, overlooking the Grand Canyon, in a helicopter, preparing to bungee jump... instead of worrying what people will say if he dies, he leaves us with, 'how do I want to live?'

On top of it all, Will Smith's version of the audiobook includes music and performances that bring his life's experience to the reader in a technicolour kind of way.  If you can, I strongly encourage listening to the unabridged version.
