Yesterday marked the 10th Annual Moves Mountains Breakfast at Rundle Academy. At this time of year, every year, Rundle Academy hosts a breakfast for roughly 40 lucky students who have managed to move their own personal, social or academic mountain. This is a special awards ceremony as we have always served breakfast to the students and their family, had an alumni guest speaker and have a teacher read a personalized letter of achievement to each recipient. Every year, it represents the official start of our 'season of celebration' at Rundle.
This year, things were a little different, due to COVID-19, however it did not stop us from celebrating. The festivities started days before with the home delivery of cinnamon buns to all recipients. I was fortunate enough to be able to make 3 deliveries myself. These visits were great opportunities to connect (from a safe social distance) and share our experiences. The actual event took place in Zoom, we had an exceptional alumni speaker give a message and then the teachers and students broke off into individual rooms to share their letters and catch up.
Initially, I wasn't sure if the event would have the same impact... I couldn't have been more wrong. From the moment it started to the moment it ended, there was a dry eye in the zroom (I think I just made up that word?!?).
I'd like to thank all those who made this very special day, very special.
