Late last week, I was very fortunate to be invited to observe the Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) here in Calgary. I have to say, I was absolutely blown away by the whole experience.
Although I cannot speak about specifics regarding the conversations, presentations or deliberations; I can say that the initiative and the concept of this type of organization are remarkable.
Essentially, what the U of C and CDL are attempting to do are connect MBA students, researchers and mentors together to develop, improve and launch great ideas into our economies and marketplaces.
Over my time at CDL, it was nothing short of inspiring to see some of North America's top minds come together to evaluate and improve ideas. The second remarkable aspect of this process is the direct feedback that is offered and the objective centric evaluation each organization undergoes as a part of the process. I believe this direct formative feedback is enabling these potential companies to develop their antifragile capacity. Next, I was heartened to understand CDL's commitment to encouraging young women to be a part of the innovative industies. Finally, there is an incredible human network opportunity in communities such as CDL. I had the great pleasure of sharing lunch with individuals from across the industry who were actively finding ways to connect, integrate and improve themselves.
