In the
last number of years, the design thinking process has become a well-known way
of solving problems. It’s a way to stimulate innovative thought that requires
lots of questioning and empathy for the user all the while encouraging the art
of trying, failing, making changes and then doing it all over again as
necessary. It involves creating a prototype and testing it out before deciding
that you are done.
In the
book Sprint, by Jake Knapp, he outlines the way a group of people can go
through the design process in five days. The benefit is that you can put all
your efforts into solving one problem without the distraction of other issues
getting in the way during a short, intense time period.
This
spring, Rundle’s Professional Development Committee will have the opportunity
to go through the process over a three day period with an expert facilitator
guiding us. We’re pretty excited to have this time to dream and come up with
some innovative ideas for Rundle’s professional learning starting in 2021.
