Be Curious: The Happiness Lab - The History of Grading

Image result for a+

I've mentioned the podcast "The Happiness Lab" in this blog before.  Dr. Laurie Santos, from Yale University, continues to produce one great episode after another... I'd recommend them all... to everyone!

In her most recent episode, "Making the Grade,"  she takes a hard look at assessment, grading and psychology.  Throughout the podcast she explores topics such as the difference between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, why we use fitbits (and do they actually help) and where the idea of grading began (spoiler alert... Yale started it all).

In future blogs, I think it may be worthwhile to take a deeper dive on the best uses of assessment (formative has the highest impact on learning and motivation) and what parents, students and teachers can do to better understand the best use and highest impact of our practices.

Enjoy!
