Stay Connected: How a kindergarten class is connecting during REEDS

How To Boil Eggs for Easter—Boiling Easter Eggs

Imagine this - 15 Kindergarten kids - each with their own zoom window - and their teacher and teacher assistant are delivering a lesson on colouring easter eggs and supporting it with a storybook and story.  The teachers are mindfully connecting with the students throughout the activity and the story by asking students individual questions, asking for thumbs up and asking for personal reflections.  The students are all leaning forward and appear to be taking in each and every moment.

The lesson continues with a birthday celebration and then a heartwarming sign off where every student says goodbye to their classmates and wishes them a nice long weekend.  At the end of it all, the teacher leads them in a choreographed sign off with actions for our school's values,

"Together: Be Kind, Be Curious, Be Well."

All the students are reminded that at 11AM there is a phys ed lesson and a reading lesson at 1PM.

Everybody gives a big wave and signs off.

Today, I'd like to thank Ms. Lew, Ms. Cook and the entire Primary team for making strong and meaningful connections, even while being physically separated.
