Be Curious: How do you talk to a teenager?

Earlier this month, the Washington Post published an excellent article titled, “How to talk to your Middle-schooler (so they might actually listen to you)”. So much of this work resonated with me, and may also with you.

In particular, the sentiment that our kids have been ‘on’ all day, and may actually need some time to disconnect at the end of the day so that they can recharge.  I also loved the sentiment that it is best to come from a place of curiosity, not judgement, when we ask them about the ‘small’ things (that are actually huge things to them).

I commend Phyliss Fagel on finding a way to truly empathize with the mind of the teens in our lives.
